Fruitland HS ATH Alec Dhaenens (Fruitland, ID) verbally committed to Boise State nearly a year ago and was on campus just a little over a week ago for his official visit. Like Joey Martarano, the future Bronco described the visit as a "great experience" and is eager to sign with the Broncos on Wednesday.

"It was a great experience," he said. "It's a beautiful campus and I can't way to be there," he added.

"I got to sit down with Coach Huff and talk to him about the program," he stated. "He talked to me about the offense, stuff I need to work on, and says he likes how aggressive I am on the field. He likes that I can block and catch the ball."

"I got to sit down with Coach Petersen too," said Dhaenens. "He talked a lot about preparing for college now and not waiting. You got to start preparing mentally. He's big on that."

Head Coach Chris Petersen also told Alec (6'4, 240) not to "rush back" and to allow his ACL injury a full amount of time to heal.

"He doesn't want me to rush back," he said. "He told me to take my time with recovery. They don't want future injuries. He wants me at 100% before getting back out there."

"I feel it's healing well right now," said Dhaenens. "I'm going to therapy three times a week and putting in a lot of hard work. My goal is to be ready by this summer."

"I'm 100% committed."

Alec and Joey (Martarano) have played football together since the Pop Warner days over a decade ago. The two Fruitland stars will play together at Boise State and are excited about being Broncos.

"It'll be great to play with Joey," he said. "We've been playing together forever...since the pee-wee league. Now we've gone through HS and we'll play together at Boise State. It's cool since not too many teammates can say that."

And Signing Day?

"I'm excited," he said. "I've been committed for a while but it'll be nice to put the pen to paper," he added.

BroncoCountry.com will continue to have updates on Alec Dhaenens.
