"Will
committed to Coaches Kennedy and White last night," added Will's father,
Bill Bogan. "After we learned more about Ole Miss, Coach Kennedy was the number
one draw because of his coaching style and the way he runs his program. The next
thing we looked at was the SEC. It is a strong basketball conference. That was
appealing also, but primarily it was Coach Kennedy and the program he has put
together."
How did Ole Miss find out about a player as far away as
Idaho?
"Coaches Kennedy and Miller saw him play in a game against
an Evansville (IN) team in July in the Adidas Super 64 Tournament in Las Vegas.
The head coaches from Duke, Louisville, Indiana, Ole Miss, Michigan, North Carolina
were all there to see this kid from Evansville play. Will had a typical game,
but nobody knew anything about Will, so they were kind of taken back. I think
he scored 18 in the game. They thought he had great game, but it was typical for
him. That is how it all started."
The Bogan family got a chance to
finally see the Ole Miss campus when the Rebels played the Gators in football
two weekends back. They came away impressed.
"We came on the visit,
and we liked the staff overall. It was the first chance for us to meet their guards
coach, Michael White. Coach White is just the type of coach I want my boy playing
for. What a class guy. We already had met Coaches Kennedy and Miller in person,
as they came to our house the Thursday before we went on our visit to Ole Miss.
But the whole coaching staff is just great. We really feel comfortable sending
our boy to them. We know they are going to take care of Will and make sure he stays
up on his studies. The new Fed Ex academic center really impressed Will's mother
and myself. They have a great tutoring program over there and top notch academic
facilities. The business school is new and strong. That is what Will is going
to major in. And this is not necessarily in order, but Will really likes the players
at Ole Miss. He got to hang out with them and play in some pick up games and just
felt liked they clicked. I think Will knew in his mind that Ole Miss was his dream
school by the time he left from his visit."
Will's game has been compared
to another Ole Miss point guard, Todd Abernethy. But what are you going to get
out of this Idaho Flite AAU member is a point guard who is quicker and can play
off the ball as well because of his ability to create space off the dribble, while
also having the ability to shoot coming off screens and has great lift on his
jump shots.
Does anyone want a "rich man's" Todd Abernethy?
