Eagle HS QB Taylor Kelly (Eagle, ID) recently made a commitment to the Nevada Wolf Pack as he will head to Reno to play his college football in 2010. Kelly will now focus on leading Eagle on a state championship run in 2009. He spoke to BroncoCountry.com about his decision to commit to Nevada and his future as a member of the Wolf Pack.
Eagle HS QB
Taylor Kelly
(Eagle, ID) recently made a commitment to the
Nevada
Wolf Pack and he's happy to put recruiting in the rearview mirror. "I committed to Nevada," he said. "I wanted to get it out of the way and focus on football in my senior year," he added.
The offer came just recently as he attended the Nevada football camp in Reno. "They wanted to see me at camp," he said. "I flew down and threw the ball around a bit. They showed me around and they really liked me. They called me about a week later and offered me."
Kelly was recruited by (Assistant Coach/DTs Coach) Jim House. "Coach House recruited me," he said. "He was really interested in me. Always asking me questions. I like him a lot," Kelly added.
Nevada Head Coach Chris Ault was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame a few years back. That was a big selling point for Kelly. "Coach Ault is a good guy and full of energy," he said. "He knows what he's talking about and a Hall of Fame coach. I like him a lot."
The pistol offense at Nevada has put up big numbers in the WAC the past few years. Expectations are high for the 2009 Wolf Pack as QB
Colin Kaepernick
hopes to lead Nevada to one of their best seasons in recent history. "Colin is good," Kelly said. "I wish I could have met him on my visit. I look up to him. I'm going down there for their senior day soon. I hope I can meet him."
What will it be like going up against
Boise State
in college? "It'll be a good one. Jacob Johnston (6'1.5 185lb DB) is walking on at Boise State and I've known him my whole life. We've been ribbing each other a little bit."
The goal in 2009 for Kelly and his teammates is simple. "I just want to try to get our team back to the state championship and stay healthy," he said. "Just have a good year."
